About ArakIce

ArakIce is a machine-learning platform for NHL predictions. We turn the data that actually decides hockey games — shot quality, rest, travel, injuries, goaltending and officiating — into clear probabilities, and we show the reasoning behind every one. This page explains who we are, how the model works, and the principles we hold ourselves to.

What we do

Every night the NHL schedule is full of games where the fair number sits somewhere between what the public assumes and what the sportsbook posts. ArakIce exists to find that number. For each game we produce a win probability and a projected total; for individual players we project outputs like shots, points and goaltender saves. We then compare those projections to the live odds to surface where the market may be wrong — the only rational reason to place a bet.

We are an analytics tool, not a tipster service. We do not sell "locks" or guaranteed winners, because no one can honestly promise those in a sport as variable as hockey. What we offer is a consistent, transparent framework applied to every game, so you can make your own informed decisions.

How the model works

At the core of ArakIce is a machine-learning model trained on historical NHL data. Rather than a single opaque network, it pairs learned team-strength ratings with an explainable, factor-based layer, so each prediction can be traced back to specific reasons. The inputs it weighs include:

Expected goals

Shot quality and quantity, a far more stable signal of team strength than goals scored.

Rest & schedule

Back-to-backs, dense stretches and days off, learned as quantified effects rather than rules of thumb.

Travel & geography

Distance flown, time-zone shifts, altitude and long road trips — real, measurable edges the market underrates.

Injuries & goaltending

Confirmed absences and the actual starter in net, both of which reshape a projection significantly.

Referee tendencies

Crew-level penalty rates that feed the totals model, because more power plays mean more goals on average.

Value vs. the market

Every projection is compared to the live odds, so the output is an edge, not just a prediction.

Crucially, these factors are weighed per game rather than applied uniformly, and the model is judged on out-of-sample results and calibration — whether the things it calls 60% actually happen about 60% of the time — not on cherry-picked win streaks.

Our principles

We hold ourselves to a few simple commitments. We are transparent: every pick shows the factors that produced it, so you can judge it rather than trust it blindly. We are honest about variance: results play out over a season of hundreds of bets, not over a single night, and we say so plainly. And we never promise profit: any product that guarantees winning bets is misleading you, and we will not be one of them.

Responsible gambling

Betting should be entertainment, not a way to make money or solve financial problems. We urge everyone who uses ArakIce to gamble responsibly: only wager what you can comfortably afford to lose, set limits before you play, never chase losses, and step away if it stops being fun. You must be of legal gambling age in your jurisdiction to bet.

If gambling is causing you or someone you know harm, help is available and it works. In the United States you can call or text the National Problem Gambling Helpline at 1-800-GAMBLER, which is free, confidential and available 24/7. Many other countries have their own national helplines — please reach out to the service in your region if you need support.
